WasteSafe Lifetime Achievement Award

In 2016, the Organizing Committee and the International Advisory Board for the WasteSafe International Conference decided to recognize the credential of an individual who has made outstanding contribution in local and global perspectives in the advancement of waste management. This recognition will be given through an award, namely, "WasteSafe Lifetime Achievement Award”, to be presented biennially during the WasteSafe International Conference.

With great pleasure and respect, the organizing committee of WasteSafe 2017, is hereby announced that the recipient of this year’s “WasteSafe Lifetime Achievement Award” is Prof. Dr. Werner Bidlingmaier, Germany. The award will be delivered on next 26th February 2017, Sunday, during the Conference Dinner & Cultural Show (7:30pm to 9:30pm) of the Conference to be held at Hotel Castle Salam, Khulna, Bangladesh.

Professor Dr. Werner Bidlingmaier (1946)

Werner Bidlingmaier was a Professor & Chair of Waste Management at the Department of Civil Engineering at Bauhaus-University Weimar, Germany since 1997, till his retirement in 2011. Before that he was the full-professor of Waste Management at the University of Essen from 1993.

Nominated as external lecturer at the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 1991, he was leader of the transfer centre for biological waste treatment Weimar from 1998 to 2001. Additionally, he was the Vice-Rector of International development at the Bauhaus-University Weimar. He graduated from University of Stuttgart in Civil Engineering in 1972, later from same university he obtained Ph.D. in 1979. Prof. Bidlingmaier has more than 30 year experience in project works in Asia. He participated in the development of several research projects and presented various research results in the field of waste management, environmental science and sustainable development. He won the prestigious Scientific Award of University of Brussels in 1984 and the recipient of the Sardinia Symposium Award "A Life for Waste" in 2015. He was also the founder and chairman of ORBIT Association and successfully organized ORBIT International Conference. Throughout his long cherished teaching career he also acted as the Chairman, Consultant and Member for different organization/committee in Europe and Asia for scientific/professional contribution.
